This recipe comes from the Grange Cookbook (1984 version?).
- 4 cups flour
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup molasses
- 2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda (dissolved into 2 tablespoons hot water)
- Mix dry ingredients with butter.
- Take out one cup of crumbs for topping.
- Add molasses, water, and soda mixture.
- Mix and pour in a greased and floured 9×13 pan. Sprinkle on topping.
- Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
